Butterfly knives

If you ever watched a person flip open butterfly knives and thought that you would like to know how to do that, now is your chance.

Flipping open a knife like this can be done easily with practice, but it is important to remember that the knife is very sharp and definitely could hurt somebody. This is why careful practice is so important.

• The first thing you should do is simply extend your right arm as if you were getting ready to shake hands with somebody. If you are left-handed, you will reverse the hand used.

• Next, carefully take one of the butterfly knives and lay it lengthwise along your second joints in your fingers and then curl your hand in. Make sure that you keep the thumb just below the catch of the knife.

• The next step you need to follow should be done with caution. Flick the knife upward as you open the blade up with the thumb on your right hand. This is the start of what should be a smooth and fluid motion.

• The next step must be practiced a lot so that it can be done seamlessly. You need to squeeze the back end of the butterfly knife against your thumb and your fingers while at the same time allowing the front half of the blade to drop. It is important that you quickly flip your wrist so that the front half of the knife flies up and strikes the backs of your fingers.

• In the same motion, the front piece of any butterfly knives you use should then strike the back part of only your index finger. The piece that was in the front now should be in the back.

Even though the process is not entirely as difficult as it sounds, it is true that it will take some practice with butterfly knives before you can easily flip them open. Remember to pay attention to what you are doing and follow safety rules.
