Swiss Army knives are popular knives to be used as camping knives due to the fact that they include knives, files, scissors, toothpicks and eating utensils all in one small package.

The one thing that a buyer of a knife like this needs to be aware of, however, is that there are quite a bit of counterfeit or knock-off Swiss Army knives. Most campers are in agreement that the best camping knives are the Swiss Army knives, but only if they are the real deal.

It can sometimes be difficult to tell the authenticity of these knives thanks to the fact that the Swiss cross is widely viewed as the Swiss Army knife logo, but in fact really is not. Just as a company cannot copyright the American flag, the makers of Swiss Army knives cannot trademark the Swiss cross. This makes it much easier for pretenders to pass off their camping knives as authentic knives.

Most authentic Swiss Army knives are made by Victorinox or Wenger. If the label on the camping knives does not say one of these two names on it, it is likely you do not have an authentic knife.

An easy way to make sure that your camping knives are authentic Swiss Army knives is to buy them at an authorized dealer of these knives. You should also pay attention to how much money the knives cost. If the deal you are getting seems too good to be true, then it probably is.
