Knives FAQs
How can I protect my knives?
Depending on the kind of knife you own, there are different ways that
you may want to protect it. For example, if you are asking about steak
knives or other kitchen cutlery, the best place to store them is in
a wooden knife block. These blocks can be used in the kitchen on the
counter, but there are also others that can be built and placed underneath
the cabinets. Other knives, like hunting or camping knives, are often
placed in sheaves and taken care of that way.
What types of things should be included with my survival knife?
What do you think you will need to survive? Basically, you are going
to want to have your very own MacGyver kit that will allow you to have
the small things you need to survive any situation. Some of the standard
items that are often included with these knives are matches, a compass,
a small rope or string, a sharpening kit, toothpicks and other small
accessories. These items are often placed directly inside of the knife
and can be removed by unscrewing the bottom of the knife. Often, the
part that a person unscrews also doubles as the knife’s compass.
I know knives can be dangerous, but what are the top knife safety
tips I need to know?
The main safety tip that you need to know is to simply remember to
be aware. Be aware of where other people are when you are using a knife.
Likewise, be aware of where your fingers are placed when the knife is
out. You should also be aware of children who are around to make sure
you do not leave the knife lying around. Because knives are so sharp
and so effective, they also can be very dangerous. It is important that
you be able to keep in your mind the importance of protecting yourself
and others from the knives as much as possible.
