Pocket knife
Even if you know you would love to have a pocket knife
to carry around with you, it might first be best to take a few things
into consideration. For example:
• Check the laws – Even if you know the exact pocket knife
you want to have, this does not mean it is necessarily a good idea to
buy it. Some municipalities regulate blade lengths. Others do not allow
people to carry switchblades. Others disallow any kind of spring assisted
openings. Spending a couple of minutes searching the municipal code
online or contacting the Police Department might be time well spent.
• Look for quality – Some people spend a little money on
a pocket knife and then later decide to spend a nicer one that costs
more. Some people recommend simply getting a high-quality knife right
off the bat. If you do, the pocket knife should hold its edge longer,
sharpen with more ease, and be more reliable. If a time ever comes when
you absolutely need to use your knife – i.e. While on a wilderness
survival situation in the outdoors or while cutting yourself out of
a seatbelt after a car accident, you will be glad you spent the extra
money getting a quality knife.
• Buy based on your own needs – There are certainly many
kinds of knives available on the market. Think about the kind of grip
and the size of blade that you want. Think about what weather conditions
you may be using the knife in. If it is cold, you may need a bigger
grip because you will be wearing gloves while using your pocket knife.
