Steak knives
Steak knives are among some of the smaller knives, but
because they are quite sharp, they are still dangerous if not properly
cared for. If you want for your knives to stay in excellent condition,
consider doing some of the following things:
• Keep it clean – As soon as you finish using steak knives,
you should remove any food or residue that is still on the knife. Do
not wait until the next day to clean the knife or it could risk being
stained.
• When you do wash these knives, try to do so by hand. Even though
you can put most steak knives in the dishwasher, if they are left in
the dishwasher for any period of time after the wash is done, they may
start to rust just slightly. The rust will reduce the look and effectiveness
of your knife.
• Pay attention to the knife – When you are using your
steak knives to cut, pay attention to see if the blade is still taut
and cuts well. If you feel any sort of wiggling, be carerful using the
knife because there is a chance it is not as tight as it should be and
therefore a little more dangerous.
• Store the steak knives – When you store your knives,
perhaps it is best to try to store them somewhere where they will not
get rubbed up against by other utensils. A knife block is an excellent
option. You may instead want to put them in a drawer, but use sheaves
to keep them protected. This will help keep the steak knives from getting
wet, dirty or otherwise damaged.
